cut perpendicular to the core.

I have 16 years experience in the printing industry. I started out by doing manual paste-up, darkroom work and even running the press in high school graphic arts class. I continued my graphic arts education at Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina, where I graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Arts and Imaging Technology.

After graduating from AppState, I moved to Glasgow, Scotland, for 6 months to work for an internet company as a member of the data team and, later, as their Image & Charts Master. After my visa was up, I moved back to my hometown of Athens, Georgia, and worked at Data Supplies, Inc. for Lawrenceville-based Design Type. Following Design Type, I was hired by DFI Print Service for four years after which I got a wild hair and up and moved to Minneapolis! I only regret the move about 2 months into every Winter.

For the past year, I was the in-house designer for the Twin Cities Chapter of the American Red Cross. It was an excellent time of growth as a designer and I learned a lot about non-profit marketing in a tight economy. However, due to the economic downturn, I was laid off in December. Now I am back to full time freelance work until I secure a new permanent on-site job. I have several years of experience in prepress as well as design and can do a 12-up business card layout faster than you can say "the press is down."
