About
| My big obsession is Irish dance (step & céilí). I recently joined the O’Shea school up here in St. Paul. He’s pushing me hard and I’m loving it. I’m a novice in traditional set, hornpipe, and slip jig. Prize winner in treble jig, light jig, reel and single jig. I’ve gotten first place in the novice dances, but there weren’t enough competitors for me to advance. Sad & Disappointing.
I also teach the North Star School of Irish Dance at Deanne’s Dance Studio and share the love of being a grown-up dancer. I’m a serious cat lover. Below is my beloved Clawsie who passed away after a valiant fight with kidney failure. After her departure I adopted a mama cat and her son (Missy & Brody) from a no-kill shelter. They aren’t the most cuddly, so I later adopted a kitten I named Georgia. I’ve been told three’s the limit before you become a Crazy Cat Lady. |
I graduated summa cum laude from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Arts and Imaging Technology. “What,” say you, “is the difference between a Graphic Arts degree and a Graphic Design degree?” The Graphic Design program is housed in the Art Department where as the Graphic Arts degree is housed in the Technology Department. Basically, what that means is that I come a more technical and less art background. I am an artist (of sorts) and I have had several art courses, but I always preferred to be the behind the scenes person getting the designer’s file ready to go on press and doing my best to make the press operators happy (which is no easy task!) Most recently, I was the in-house designer for the Twin Cities Area Chapter of the American Red Cross. I really loved working for a non-profit with as admirable a goal as that of the Red Cross. It was a challenging transition from being the prepress guru to full time right brain work, but I loved it! I got laid off in 2008 and did freelance work for about a year. My partner lost his job at that point and I took a job at a bank. Now I’ve left that and I’m eeking by working at a family-owned bagel shop and teaching Irish dance. HOBBIES
